Scripts dynamically compute their folder location. No manual editing of JAVA_HOME, JRE_HOME, or CATALINA_HOME required.
Pre-sized setenv.bat and setenv.sh with -Xms1024m -Xmx2048m, G1GC tuning, UTF-8 encoding, and automatic HeapDump on OOM.
Unnecessary sample apps (examples, docs, manager) and source tarballs removed. Masked server header, ErrorReportValve, and RemoteIpValve enabled.
Pre-configured HttpOnly and SameSite=lax attributes on all session cookies in context.xml.
Extract the ZIP Archive
Extract tomcat-enterprise-bundle-.zip to any folder on your system (e.g. C:\Apps\Tomcat on Windows or /opt/tomcat on Linux).
Launch via setup.bat (Windows) or setup.sh (Linux/macOS)
Run the universal setup launcher for your platform:
Windows (PowerShell / Command Prompt):
# Double-click setup.bat or run from terminal:
.\setup.bat start # Starts Tomcat and launches web browser
.\setup.bat run # Runs Tomcat in foreground console
.\setup.bat test # Verifies Java runtime & port 8080 availability
.\setup.bat stop # Safely shuts down Tomcat

Access Server Verification Screen
Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost:8080. You will see the active deployment verification screen with runtime engine status.
Deploy Your Web Applications
Drop your compiled .war file into the tomcat/webapps/ folder. To serve it as the default website, rename your file to ROOT.war.
